Ingenia Holidays Ocean Lake is set on the waterfront at Wallaga Lake on the New South Wales south coast. Enjoy waking up to views of the shimmering lake, explore the nearby beaches and dramatic rock formations and discover the charming surrounding towns. Here are our favourite things to do in the region.
Wallaga Lake
Enjoy the serene atmosphere, listen to the lap of the water and watch the abundant birdlife that make a home at Wallaga Lake. The large lake is a great spot for swimming, boating and waterskiing and is known for its fabulous fishing. The lake and Merriman Island, the small island within the lake, are recognised as sites of great significance to the local Aboriginal people, with many artefacts being found in the area.
Foxglove Spire Gardens
Explore an enchanting garden wonderland at The Foxglove Spires Gardens at Tilba Tilba. The gardens are spread across the 3.5 acre property and combine English style elegance with a romantic, fairy tale like ambiance. Watch the birds glide across the duck pond, gaze at lush green foliage and colourful flowers, explore the gardened ruins and listen to the relaxing trickle of the water features.
Camel Rock
Camel Rock was named many years ago by Bass and Flinders and the landmark continues to hold fascination today due to the striking rock formations and beautiful ocean views. Tuck into a picnic under the shady trees while you take in the view, explore the rock pools or catch a wave at Camel Rock surf beach which is patrolled during the summer months.
Montreal Goldfield
Join the daily tour and discover the gold rush past of Australia’s only goldfield that extends into the sea at Montreal Goldfield. Learn about the brief gold boom from 1880 to 1883, browse through the Heritage Centre and hear about the unsolved Bermagui Mystery which involved the strange disappearance of a government surveyor and four other men in October of 1880.
Blue Pool
The Blue Pool is an iconic natural rock pool that is a favourite with locals and visitors alike. It is located at the base of a dramatic cliff face on Scenic Drive and has steps leading down to it. The clear ocean water make it a stunning place to take a swim, or enjoy the scenery from the viewing platform and do some whale watching during migration season.
