Tiral Bay Gaol opened in 1886 and sits on cliffs above the sea. Today, it’s a picturesque ruin and a fascinating site to explore. You can find details of opening times and tours at the national parks website here.
This area has all the space, covered picnic areas and barbecues of any great picnic spot. There’s a creek meandering through it and while you’re relaxing, see if you can spot an Eastern Grey Kangaroo nearby!
Is one of the tallest and oldest lighthouses in Australia and another great spot for whale watching (between May and November). Some have described the lighthouse as beautiful, and certainly, the surrounding scenery is stunning. The perfect spot or some great photographs.
Located near Kempsey has lots of walking trails to enjoy. As well as whale watching, the park also offers something for bird waters in particular around the beautiful park’s wetlands and beaches. The Maritime Museum at South West Rocks is a hidden gem, bringing together artefacts, photographs, documents and paintings that chart the fascinating maritime history of the region. Gain an insight into the early pioneer days of South West Rocks including the old Gaol complex as you browse the museum collection.
