Best coffee
Let’s face it, camp coffee is ok, but barista coffee is better. If you are craving a caffeine hit to get you going in the morning, park manager Kathie recommends Lagom Bakery in Burrill Lake, just a quick five-minute drive from the park. They serve locally-roasted, small-batch Guerilla Roasters coffee that is ethically sourced, tastes delicious and is sure to hit the spot. It goes without saying that they serve amazing breakfast pastries too for an added treat.
Best scenic walk
You don’t have to travel far to find stunning scenic walks. With the Chris Humphries Nature Walk in the South Pacific Heathland Reserve, the One Track for All cultural trail and the Gondwana Coast Fossil Walk all within a 15-minute drive of Ingenia Holidays Wairo Beach. All three offer spectacular coast views as well as opportunities for a little whale spotting (in season). And as all are under two kilometres, you could easily do all three in a day if you choose.
Best day trip for kids
If your kids love animals, treat them to a day at Mogo Wildlife Park. It’s under an hour away and home to a wide range of larger animals including giraffe, gorillas, lions and tigers as well as smaller creatures like cheeky meerkats and otters. Plan ahead in the school holidays and your little ones can enjoy the junior zookeeper for a day experience, a memory they will talk about for years to come.
Best day trip for adults
While away a sunny afternoon relaxing among the vineyards at the Cupitt’s Estate. Sample boutique wines, beers, cider and cheeses all made on site. Enjoy light bites or pizzas in a casual al fresco setting or treat yourself to award-winning farm-to-table three-course dining experience in the restaurant. Just 15 minutes from the park, our team recommends getting there and back by Uber (or other ride share) so that you can make the most of the experience.
