Shop at the markets
The Pier Park Community Markets are located right near the iconic Urangan Pier, overlooking the water in Hervey Bay. The markets operate from 7am to 1pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays and feature at over 100 stalls including fresh local fruit and vegies, homemade sweets, arts and crafts.
Perfect your golf swing
The Hervey Bay Golf Club has been a popular place to play a round since the first 9 holes opened back in 1945. Today it is an 18 hole championship course that combines bunkered greens and fun yet challenging holes with a beautiful natural setting. The Clubhouse has had a recent spruce up and is a great place for a bite to eat or kicking back with a cold drink.
Fraser Island
The spectacular World Heritage Listed Fraser Island is a unique and beautiful place that has to be experienced in person. There are a range of tours that take visitors to the island where you can take 4WD tours of the sandy beaches, join walking tours to discover the unique ecology of the island or take a dip in the crystal clear lakes.
Reefworld Aquarium
Reefworld Aquarium is a great place to get up close with a variety of colourful tropical fish, coral displays, sharks, turtles and crabs. The aquarium uses sand filtered sea water and natural sunlight to accommodate the marine creatures in the most natural way possible. If you’re feeling brave you can even take a swim with the sharks.
Hervey Bay Esplanade Trail
Enjoy a waterfront stroll or bike ride along the Hervey Bay Esplanade, stretching over 14km from Urangan Harbour to Gatakers Bay. Drop into the Hervey Bay Information Centre for a map, then take in spectacular views from Point Vernon, Gables Point or Mathew Flinders Lookout, spend some time relaxing in the parks along the way or stop at the popular Scarness Beach for a swim. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants along the way to grab a coffee or snack to refuel.
Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum
The award winning Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum will give you a glimpse into the past of the region. The village includes 21 historical buildings dating as far back as 1898, and features a wide range of exhibits from blacksmithing and farming equipment to horse drawn buggies and an old school room.
Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens
The Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens are a pretty and peaceful oasis where you can take a wander and stretch out on the grass for a picnic or to soak in the natural surrounds. The gardens are home to a variety of plants and bird life, and include a central lake, formal Chinese Garden, orchid house and more.
Lady Elliot Island
Located off the tip of the Fraser Coast, Lady Elliot Island is a island haven filled with natural beauty, abundant bird life and spectacular marine life including turtles, reef sharks and coral reefs. Visitors can soak up the serene and relaxed atmosphere and keep an eye out for the endangered Loggerhead Turtles that nest on the island in the summer months.
